Skating....

The pictures below are out of order, but we had a fun Friday night in January taking the boys skating.

Skating is something Karen and I always attempted to do on the little pond at our house growing up, and we never had lessons (so we stink), but we always loved it.  So, I invited Karen and Cory, and Cory's brother also came which was fun...

We went to Chile's afterwards and they have 2 for 1's, so Karen tasted my beer.  And then she held it LOL until I was ready for it...

She did order something she liked once we got to the table...

Cheers!

Here is Evan and I skating...he fell down a lot!

Nathan has gotten pretty good...better than Mommy, after only a few lessons...

Evan did wipe out backwards though and landed straight on his head.  His helmet went THUNK.  So, I think its good they wear those!

Man down!

Hugs!

Everybody else is...

At the end of January Chris and I decided to build out the basement bedroom.  This was my sewing area.  I decided to give it up and give Nathan a bedroom -- we may not be in this house too much longer, but I figured it was time to separate the boys.

We talked a lot about where things would go, and then Chris got started.

supplies!

Giving up a room for myself meant certain other things had to go...this fake tree was from my parents house, and it was simply falling apart...so we said goodbye to it!

The insulation in one or two spots looked bad to us, so Chris ripped it out and redid it all...

That purple couch?  Gone...we gave it to Chris' brother for his basement...

I had to put my stuff somewhere temporarily, since Chris not only took the room so he could build it, but all the supplies were put outside of the room -- so, upstairs it is!  honestly, the light here is amazing so other than not looking pretty, it was functional.  But, i can't WAIT to get it out of there.

Still working on the insulation...

And done!

Wall up.  That's easy.

Rock up.  Also easy (when strong men are around)

Had a sad day when I said goodbye to this chair.  It's the match to the couch above that went -- all three boys were rocked for hours in this chair, snuggled, read stories, giggled and told jokes, cried with them and for them...

One last picture...

Or maybe two or three...

Sheetrock done!

Panoramic view....

Chris thought it would be awesome to  make the wall where there is the window a full bookshelf.  So he ripped off the rock, and built the wall out one day.  It's pretty amazing what he can do in a day once he gets started...

Extended wall complete!

We just had the room  measured for the carpet install today, but I haven't taken any recent pics.  More to come I guess!

So, I did manage to do a few things in the past couple months...

Even though I was really busy at work the past couple months, I have been able to do a few fun things in my spare (hahahaha) time...

First off, finished piecing this beast.  HOT DAMN look at that seam!  (if you are not a quilter, I doubt you will appreciate this at all...)  But, if you are a quilter, you will think, HOT DAMN!

Sometime in January it was National Pie Day.  I made a pie out of old apples and cherries.  The kids LOVED it and begged for it every night...success!  Which reminds me that I need to make some dessert for tonight --

Overflowed edges = perfect pie.

Perfect pie crust is gross.   it tastes like, crust.

Finished off the Bacardi when I made six loaves of stollen for gifts -- this Bacardi was purchased in 2003 for our wedding (we had to bring in the liquor for the bar there)..  Yup, can you tell we aren't big Bacardi Rum fans?  Still, it was fun to think how it lasted all those years....

It was the superbowl (aka, super boring).  We made a few new things and the kids watched the Kitty and the Puppy Bowl....

These wings were great -- we made them again for Jeffrey's bday bash...

Ducks finished.  I didn't really like the ducks...

But I loved the bunnies!

I received a table topper Easter kit from my MIL.  I read an article about freehand curved piecing, so I tried it out.  It was so fun!  I didn't use a ruler and just cut the pieces freehand and sewed.  It turned out really cool -- I am going to stitch in the ditch because I really don't want the feel of it to be changed by an overall quilting...

It will feel good to get it done -- and it will be ready then for next Easter!

The bunnies kept multiplying.  typical....dang bunnies...

that's it -- considering my hours during March are scheduled the  highest all  year, and that i exceed them by 50, it was a bad BAD busy season for me hours wise.  But, I always have to tell myself this is something I chose, and unlike the rest of America, I don't expect sympathy for my choices.  I wouldn't mind a little more support from family and friends, but I think they just don't get it.  I mean, most people have never worked an 80 hour week in their life.  Anyways, it's done and over for now...and the only sad thing remaining is that a colleague of mine that I worked with for 15 years is leaving...very sad indeed.  Work will feel much different without him,....

Post 600!!!!!

Back in the day when blogs started, if you hit a milestone, like your 100th post, they would often have a drawing or a prize if you commented on the post.

So, comment in the post below and see what you get!  (and if you don't like handmade things or I don't know you, you won't get anything...)

Anyways, i am not sure where to start.  i got a new phone in january (tired of capitalizing letters right now by the way), and i hadn't even downloaded one picture until today.  yikes!  april 23rd.

well, i guess we shall start at the very beginning, a very good place to start....

January!

Well, after a nice long break, it was back to work and time to get ready for my 15th busy season.  Damn i am old.

Jeffrey was on the move....not yet walking about scooting around just fine...he is also a chatterbox.  Saying lots of words, loves to copy cat...

A friend came to see how fluffy Mystro's tail was...and he impressed!

The chicken army slowly grew...

Jeffrey became addicted to crawling under the table and getting stuck....

A Saturday night surprise, somehow we all ended up at Karen's and had some chinese...it was wonderful!  Jeffrey's first lo mein and fried rice...OMG he loved it...this kid eats anything.

Although, after all that chinese food, he just couldn't stay awake.  We all watched old episodes of Woody Woodpecker -- which the kids still ask about (I don't have Netflix so we don't get that).

Chris took a Tuesday off and we decided to go ice fishing before I got too busy.  We got out on the lake, got set-up, and guess who showed up?  Mom and Dad!  Totally unplanned, and hilarious.

Chris helped Dad set the permanent house out...

Mom holding a fish!  We had the best time that day...Chris left to fish with the men, and Mom and I fished by ourselves...things were going great until a Toothie got my favorite lure and then I was done.

Grandma Gus finished up pj's for Evan...it's like Where's Waldo!

Rearranged a few things in my office, and my aloe continues to explode.  I am pretty sure this thing just likes office air or something....I even gave a ton of the babies to a friend of mine at work!

Finished an end topper for my mom.  Mystro was making sure it was high quality.

I guess I stayed downstairs too long, and Jeffrey couldn't wait anymore...so tired!

Nathan and Evan did skating lessons again...Nathan in blue...

Hard to see but Evan is down there...black and red -- he fell down.  A LOT.

That's it for this post -- more soon?  (who really knows...)  ;-)
