February 2016

I have decided to do one post for each month of 2016...so this post covers, you got it, February.  Maybe this way I can catch up?  Either way, it's what we get...

On some personal notes, I have been wearing a boot around lately for my left foot due to pain that started in November...things have calmed down, so not wearing the boot right now, but they didn't see a fracture (could still have been one apparently), and based on where the pain is, they think tendons or ligaments.   Or, they said it could be a pinched nerve up in my leg or back...goodie.  I shouldn't jog on it for another week or so according to the doctor, so I am just hoping that soon the pain goes away forever.  I must be getting old --- getting horrible random aches and pains now, because last February I had all those hip and butt problems.

*sigh*

I get really frustrated when things don't go my way, especially with health issues; so, as an effort to fight the negativity in my mind, I've been praying much more, and opening my bible, reading Matthew.  I have also been reading this book called "One Thousand Gifts" link.  It is a book I purchased last Easter, and I have picked it up and put it down about 4 times, since I struggle with the writing style.  But this fall, I have discovered that I am just like this author....she is always struggling to find the joy, find the good, and wondering why God doesn't give all good gifts?  And why does God gift "bad" gifts?  Or, is it just that we don't see the good in the bad?

Such hard lessons.  Looking for a treasure in each trial seems an almost impossible task for me.  But, lately I have found some comfort in this prayer I say, "Lord, I like things to be perfect.  But you are the only thing in this world that is.  So, if its your way, that must be the best, perfect way.  Even though it isn't fun, hurts, and is painful.  Your way is the perfect way, so I want your way..."

So, as I sit here eating my two dogs from Walkin' Dog, and my BBQ tatoe chips (which are so bad yet so good), I am looking at these pictures and wondering...

Onto the pictures...below is Evan at his kindergarten orientation in February...his face was precious in this picture...taking it all in...

Evan is currently my difficult child.  I find it hard to identify with his personality, and by george, he is going to turn out to be a kind, polite person if it kills us!  He is always making noise and screwing around lately...I can't tell you how many times this one has spilled his milk...

February is an odd month in our house...it is still winter, so there are boots, hats, gloves, everywhere, and I am starting to get busy, but not crazy busy.  Overall, it is kind of a quiet month...

We had our friends over to celebrate Chinese New Year!  We had Pad Thai just because it's good, and Chris makes it well...we also celebrated three birthdays...

Jeffrey continued to grow so fast...

The boys played in the little snow we had...

It was the Super Bowl, so of course, screw watching that!  We watched the Kitten Bowl and the Puppy Bowl, and I laughed out loud when Mystro watched too...

I started on a project that made me so happy...just look how pretty that fabric is!

Jeffrey couldn't take his Christmas present out yet...so he played and sat it in inside...

The boys found a box...

Chris and I played hookie and went fishing again...

It was such a lovely day...

Look at that sunset!!

And then we went to a bar...

Valentine's day is really not my favorite, and I hate how much flowers cost if Chris gets me any for this day.  I always tell him to just get me flowers the week after...so, this year he spent all this time making these:  So sweet!

Trying on my dress for my brothers wedding...I look kind of frumpy here...

This was a January project for Nathan, but he didn't bring it home until February.  It is such a funny thing he wrote, that Chris and I laughed for quite some time...

Jeffrey and I went shopping...

At the end of the month, it was really warm, and the kids could finally take the truck out!

The below picture is why I hate spring...do you see all that mud?  All that water?  Ick ick and double ick.  The kids tromp through that mud, and water, and laugh and giggle and then bring it all in the house for yours truly.  BAH!!

Snacking...you can tell the angle of the sun was changing...

Nathan had his First Communion retreat in February...we did an all day workshop, and I was in charge of the parents making the unleavened bread.  Let me just say, we made rock cakes...it definitely was unleavened...

I didn't think the below picture was February, but it was...again, it got quite warm and the boys got their bikes out...

Evan drew this bunny...uhh, that is supposed to be the tail...

Jeffrey drew a masterpiece...
