2015 Projects - looking back...

When I think back on 2015, I think about how I didn't really have much time to sew or do projects.  But, when I went to make the post, I realized I actually got an incredible amount accomplished.  woot!  go me!!

My mom had asked for a tree skirt a few years ago...she wanted something that "matched her house".  She loves mauves and deep pinks...I found some fabric on clearance at Grubers and I thought I could make it work...this is my own work with no pattern -- however, I did get the idea from a picture I saw somewhere, so I cannot take credit.

I wasn't sure how Mom would like it, but she LOVED it!!

Here is a snowflake blanket I crocheted for myself...I had the most fun making this last spring...I just LOVED making the snowflake squares, and the popcorn stitches all the way around.  I love cuddling up with it on cold winter nights, and was sad when I had to put it away this spring...

Food projects!  I started to attempt to make my own version of Chipotle's hot tomatillo sauce last summer...this was my first attempt (roasted the tomatillos in the oven).  I have since perfected my version, and we have now had requests for the recipe and my husband has started to smoke the tomatillos for a smokey flavor.  I think I will enter a jar at the County Fair this year...too bad they don't taste it!

This was the bottom of a shredded zucchini pizza dish I made....very good!  This reminds me that I have shredded bags of Zucchini in the freezer ready for another version of this...

I can finally post this!   Kevin and Brittany's wedding present completed....the hardest part, which you probably can't see, is I put in a purple strip before the binding.  That thing drove me nuts, but looked good in the end.  Anne quilted it with a very pretty variegated purple thread...

Canned tomato sauce...we never buy this anymore...

Freezing corn!

This was a little project that I thought was so cute -- whipped it up one month and really enjoyed making it!

Ahh....if you know anything about crochet, 2015 was the year of the "Virus Shawl".  This is my version...I actually wear it around the house all the time...such a lovely pattern.

Fox bowls!  I had never worked with this fusible stiffener stuff...but it was fun!

I made two bowls...one for the entryway, and one in my room...

I saw these cute little pumpkins in a magazine and knew I wanted to make them.  Very little sewing, so I asked Karen if she wanted to get together and do them....here we are:

Here are the pumpkins...great time making these...

My friend Kristin and I love sushi.  So, we made our own (but cooked the tuna because we aren't that qualified yet!).

But, everything turned out delicious and it was a fun day of hanging out, watching Gilmore Girls, and eating sushi...

Yeah we made a lot....

I learned how to make the perfect pancake for kids... (always add mini M&Ms!)

Below is one of my proudest accomplishments...I saw a picture of this in a magazine and just made my own version of it...I used fusible and then just quilted down a few of the parts....isn't it sweet??

I made a ton of these for my small group kids at church, and for myself...Candy cane holders!

Cat butt coasters for a friend who loves cats...

Below is Wooltraum yarn I ordered...I had to order at least 5 to make the shipping worth it...I gave one to a friend for Christmas, and used one to make a shawl for Brittany for her shower.

Thumbprint reindeer ornaments...cute...got this idea from Preschool...

My sister in law has been asking for new potholders like this for years.  Another friend of mine and I went to a funky quilt shop and got some fabric I thought she would like.  She has orange and multiple colors in her kitchen, and she mentioned she didn't want anything seasonal, so this worked.

Cozy cup holders...

Here are the finished Candy Canes...

Christmas trees for gifts...

Here is the shawlette....I don't even remember what the pattern was...

Here is a Christmas planter I made by myself with leftovers from previous years....I saw these for sale for $30 and I spent a whopping ZERO (the pines are from my bushes).   See the lack of snow?  Yeah, winter here in Minnesota now is usually a dud...

Mystro watching the pheasants...

In September we said good-bye to my Saturn...Chris had been driving this for awhile.   It was time, the thing was falling apart and I got nervous driving it...but it was a good car.

Major upgrade!!  See that little cutie in the back???
